We will start the program at 8 a.m. Friday morning, with registration opening up at 7:30. The program will end on Sunday evening by 6 p.m. Many attendees will meet up at the hotel restaurant Thursday night, and connect one last time for breakfast Monday morning.
Reserve Your Hotel Room
You’ll want to make your reservations for the hotel right away. The event is being held at the historic Tremont, an independent Baltimore hotel you’re going to love.
It’s important that you stay at the hotel of the event because:
- You won’t have to waste time getting to another hotel in the area – spend more time networking.
- This hotel was picked specifically because of its location, style, accommodations, restaurant/bar on site. All rooms have a kitchenette, the rooms are spacious, and the beds really comfortable. You are also going to have free internet in your room. The hotel used to be condos and apartments, so you’ll find a lot more space than usual hotels.
- Part of my obligations as the event host, and part of the event’s negotiated contract, is for me to bring the hotel as many guests to stay at the hotel as possible.
- You will have a pretty hard time finding a better room rate in downtown Baltimore as low as what we’ve arranged for you – especially for the quality that you’ll see in the Tremont.
To reserve your room, you should call the hotel 1-800-873-6668 Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. EST.
The room rates you should see are as follows (not including tax):
- Studio Suite with 1 or 2 Queen beds: $129
- Studio Suite with 1 King: $144
- 1 Bedroom Suite with 1 Queen: $159
- 1 Bedroom Suite with 1 King: $174
Make sure you mention “Bob The Teacher Conference” when you make your reservation.
You can also reserve online at Tremonts.com. Use this link and enter the group password of Bobteach9.
I suggest you reserve your room for Thursday night and check out Monday morning unless you plan on leaving late Sunday evening.
If Tremont Is Full
At this stage, the hotel may be sold out! Please do call and let them know you are part of our group. However, they are having a wedding Saturday night.
If they are full, use this Google map to choose a nearby hotel. We do not have negotiated rates with them, but you should still be able to get a decent rate. The staff at Tremont suggested Quality Inn and the Hotel Monaco.
Getting To SIMPLE 2
One of the reasons I picked Baltimore is it’s status as a major travel hub. You can get to the event by plane, train, or car with ease.
By Air
The nearest airport is Thurgood Marshall/BWI. Southwest flies there, as do most domestic airlines. A few international carriers service it as well. I like using Kayak.com for getting good fares, but that doesn’t include Southwest.
Remember to fly in Thursday evening as we start the program early Friday morning. Since we will end Sunday evening by 6 p.m. you’ll want to book your flight to leave after 8 p.m. Sunday or relax and leave Monday morning.
By Train
You can take the train to Baltimore’s Penn Station. If you’re traveling from the north east, this is a great way to travel instead of driving. Check out Amtrak.com
By Bus
I’m not a big fan of bus travel, but the Greyhound downtown station is about 10 minutes away from the hotel. Do not use the Baltimore Travel Plaza, as it’s outside of the city. Check out Greyhound.com
By Car
If you are driving, you can use the directions listed on the hotel’s website – Tremonts.com. You’ll want to park in the public garage next to the hotel.
You won’t need a car once you are at the event, unless you are staying before or after the event for some touristing.
Looking forward to seeing you at SIMPLE 2!
Bob Jenkins
